Without the direct directions from the Director and Assistant Director (try saying that quickly!), there would be no shows! The Director has the biggest and arguably one of the hardest jobs; they have to decide upon a play and put it to the committee for approval, cast the play with the actors they think most appropriate, then begin rehearsals. It is not all about positioning the players its far more. Notes have to be taken of all directions for reminders, they need to design the set, decide upon the most appropriate sounds, costumes, lighting and props alongside ensuring the show knits together seamlessly. Often they will use another member of the group as their assistant which offers support often in note taking form, or to cover when they may occasionally be absent or just a sounding board for ideas.
